Great invention! March 1, 2009 Dale Ketcham (Huntington, New York USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm a dog owner, but I got the cat size version at someone else's suggestion because it's more reasonable than the the dog version which comes with larger, but less, pockets. These are great for little pills that your pet won't eat plain. They're soft and wrap about the pill very easily. When I have a larger pill, I use two of them. Dogs seem to love them and are instantly eager to take their medicine. Great invention!
Thank God for these things! August 19, 2009 Laura (Los Angeles, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My cat likes both salmon and chicken flavor. At first she would just eat the pill pocket (with pill inside) but then she stopped. So I started hiding the pill pocket in some wet food and now she eats it again. What a huge relief! I did not like trying to shove pills down my cat's throat and either did she!
Great for dogs too! January 29, 2009 Erik K (Pittsburgh, PA USA) Pilling a cat has to be one of the worst experiences in the world. This makes it a little easier if your cat generally likes treats. We use them for our dogs too!
EXCELLENT FOR MEDS FOR DOGS & CATS !!! March 9, 2009 It began with Beta (St. Louis, MO USA) THIS IS A REAL LIFE SAVER! HAVE THREE CATS THAT DON'T TOLERATE HANDLING, THIS IS ONLY WAY TO GET A PILL OR CAP. DOWN. CHICKEN OR SALMON - ALL THREE WON'T EAT THE SAME, A PROBLEM SOMETIMES WITH RESCUED ANIMALS.
Finally! No more problems getting pills down April 21, 2009 aritchey (Southeastern PA) We've struggled over the years to get the occasional 7-day dosage of pills down our cats. Recently we've had to give our 11-year-old cat a pill every day . . . forever.
Thank goodness we discovered these Pill Pockets! He *loves* the flavor. The texture is a little problematic -- one whole Pill Pocket is apparently like a teaspoon of peanut butter, too soft and sticky to chew easily. So we break the pill in quarters, break the pocket in quarters, smoosh a piece of pill into a piece of pocket, and attach that (easily) to a crunchy treat.
Bingo! When I offer a handful of treats, the ones with the pill + pocket attached are always the first to go. The crunchiness of the treat makes it easier for him to manage. We've tried both chicken and salmon, and he seems to like them equally. Just wish we'd discovered these long ago.
