Surprised!! July 15, 2008 Erika T. Gray (Surprise, AZ) 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
We thought our little guy was a chihuahua mix, but it turns out NO chihuahua. He's part miniature pinscher (probably where the chihuahua looking face comes in), Newfoundland (no black on him but his mom, brother and sister are mostly black), Pembroke Welsh corgi (has corgi legs), cocker spaniel, and pekingese (has curled tail, mom does too). The Newfoundland surprised me as he is only 12 lbs. @ 5 mos. and his dad is also about 12 lbs. and mom is smaller! When he was born he was pure white -- looking like a polar bear cub. Now he is white w/buff from top of his head to his rump (corgi & cocker spaniel?) I'm waiting for results on my other dog now. Can't wait to see what she is!
Happy to Know July 29, 2008 Garden Girl (Tennessee) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I've always wondered what my mixed breed is. He is a pretty dog and I thought maybe he had Border Collie or maybe some German Shepherd in him. Turns out he's mostly Chow Chow which accounts for his coloration and his curved tail & purple tongue, Afghan Hound and Pembroke Welsh Corgi which is why his body seems long for his size, and he is part Collie which accounts for his instinct for herding. Now that I know his genetic background, I better understand his personality characteristics. It's just fun to know what my dog is made of, and I'm really glad that I had the test done!
Excellent! July 29, 2008 L.M. (Saginaw, MI) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I knew my dog was a German Shepherd mix, but we didn't know what he was mixed with. He's mixed with chow, which really explains the curly tail and black spots on his tounge. He is also mixed with boxer, which helps to explain some of his behaviors. I like this company because they don't ask you to send in a picture "to attach to the certificate". I know that this DNA test is authentic because they haven't seen my dog. I am definitely satisfied.
Excellent! August 30, 2008 J. Weber (Kenosha, WI USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
We couldn't figure out exactly what our dog is. He's obviously a chocolate lab mixed with something. I told my husband it looked like spaniel. The results came back and said he's a Labrador mixed with English Springer Spaniel, which is cool, because our other dog is a Springer Spaniel. We love our dog anyway, obviously, but it was nice to have the mystery solved. It was a very easy test to administer, and the turnaround was about 10 days from us mailing it in to getting the results back.
Fast and Easy Test Answers Questions About K-9 "Mystery Breeds" September 7, 2008 J. Ciccone (Charlotte, NC USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
We had gotten Shadow from people who were otherwise taking our gorgeous 2 year old to the pound. They insisted she was half Lab and half beagle. We were just never sure that seemed right.
BioPet was easy and fast. Make sure to get lots of your pet's spit and cels on the applicators and you should have no problem. It took all of 15 minutes to complete the test and send it back to the lab.
Two weeks later, we received the news that Shadow's ancestors were essentially...well, sluts. But beagles were never part of their weekend long parties. Sure, she is mostly Lab. Beagle was absent which is what we really expected. Now we know that her lineage includes greyhound, Irish settler, English settler and collie. It explains a lot about her look and also about many of her behaviors.
We highly recommend this affordable and fast test for any mutt owner in search of answers.
